MISSION FOCUS
Our program focuses exclusively on Veterans and is led by Veterans who have overcome adversity in their lives to lead a purposeful life of service to others. We know what it is like to serve and sacrifice and the impact that has on military spouses and children. Now it is our time to give back and serve the Veterans who lifted us up during our military careers.
Our primary goal is to find and help Veterans in Western North Carolina. If we cannot fill all our program seats with that pool of applicants, priority will be given to Veterans from the rest of NC followed by the Upstate of SC, Northeast GA, and the Southeast.
PASSION & PURPOSE
Over the last decade we have helped thousands of Veterans and have over 120 combined years of military experience leading Soldiers and 60 years in the private sector. While we may not know everything, we know what it takes to achieve real change and get real results. We are all unpaid volunteers who desperately want our Veterans to live the life they deserve.
LONG-TERM GROWTH
We offer a truly life-changing program that lasts almost a year. There are an incredible number of organizations that help Veterans. We are not better than them, but believe our holistic approach and comprehensive program is different. We are not an adventure camp that offers quick-fix, short-term solutions.
GOVERNANCE
We are a community-based charity that is controlled and governed by members of our community to ensure we serve Veterans with excellence, accountability, transparency, and financial efficiency. The majority of our Board Members are Veterans who understand the challenges Veterans face today. Others are highly successful business men who can relate to the challenges Veterans face in today’s business environment.
FINANCIAL EFFICIENCY
We are extremely financial efficient. General & Management Expenses (Overhead) and Fundraising Costs ratios are some of the best in the industry. Our G&ME costs are projected to be under 10% in 2023 and it only costs us $0.15 to raise $1.00. Industry benchmarks are 25% and $0.25 respectively.
BUILDING STRONG COMMUNITIES
We spare no expense in providing our Veterans with the best gear, equipment, clothing, books, Apps, resources, and programs in order to help them get stronger. Our fundamental belief is when our Veterans are stronger the communities they live in are stronger. Stronger Together, Together Unbroken.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
We are blessed to live in a community called Walnut Cove, a Cliffs Community just south of Asheville, where the members understand “Freedom Isn’t Free” and are grateful for the service and sacrifice our Veterans freely gave so they can live free. We offer the Unbroken Spirit Program completely free to Veterans because of their generosity and compassion. Our sponsors and donors get to see firsthand the impact of our program on the Veterans they help and our Veterans see that their supporters are worthy of their sacrifice.
