After successfully completing the life-changing Unbroken Spirit Pre-Deployment Training Course, you will be eligible to join your fellow Veterans in Asheville, NC and take on our Adaptive Sports Outdoor Program. Our individual and group activities are geared to build on your strengths, motivate you to consider new activities, and help promote a sense of belonging and peer support following our belief that we are STRONGER TOGETHER AND TOGETHER UNBROKEN.
To be eligible for this adaptive sports program, interested Veterans must provide documented proof of their condition upon request. Please contact your physician or health care provider to ensure you can participate in physical activities as the ones listed below.
During your 5 days at the incredible Nantahala Outdoor Center, Veterans will get an accessible room, hot showers, and meals. During this phase of training, learn to try something new, stay committed to being active, and reduce any negative sigma you may feel. Our goal of this phase of training is to give Veterans with physical disabilities access to the transformative power of adventure in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
We will get you out of your comfort zone and focusing on what you can do instead of dwelling on what you can’t do. Our activities will help boost your self-esteem, improve your physical and mental health, and make you more resilient. Proven benefits from an Adaptive Sports Program include reduced stress, increased quality of life, lowered blood pressure, improved weight management, and enhanced rehabilitative process. Let us empower you to learn the skills and methods to get your life back and become a true Unbroken Spirit.
Service Dogs are not allowed due to the nature of the activities.
